"SILVER LAKE"

Only 2 cars of this style and class were built. "SILVER LAKE" and sister car "DIAMOND LAKE" were unique and were probably the most reconfigured cars on the C.N.R. roster. However both cars kept their same identity throughout their careers.

1954 built PULLMAN-STANDARD, lot # 6931, plan # 7640, ordered10/52, delivered 7/54 to C.N.R., light weight steel, electro mechanical air conditioned, BUFFET-PARLOR config = 18 parlor chairs/8 dining seats

1954/71 leased to G.T.W.

1956 reconfig = 22 parlor chairs/8 dining seats

1958 reclassed BUFFET-CLUB, reconfig = 19 parlor chairs/12 lounge seats

196? reconfig. = 17 parlor chairs/24 dining seats (diagram)

1967 reconfig = 11 parlor chairs/24 dining seats/12 bar seats (diagram)

1972 reconfigured = 24 dining seats/14 lounge seats/11 parlor seats (diagram)

1976 reclassed DINER-BAR-LOUNGE, reconfig = 24 dining/14 bar seats/14 lounge seats

1978 acquired by VIA

1982 retired/stored

# 899 "SILVER LAKE" was sold in 1983 to GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS, Williamston, Mi, then in 1986 was acquired by the N.R.H.S. - BLUE WATER CHAPTER, Owaddo, Mi., "%%"

# 898 "DIAMOND LAKE" was sold in 1983 to MR. R. Leipprandt of Lansing, Mi., then later that year was acquired by TRANS ROCKY MOUNTAIN RAIL CORP, Bozeman, Mt. My records show "DIAMOND LAKE" was later acquired by AMERICAN EUROPEAN EXPRESS, but have no further data on the car
